Improv Everywhere

Improv Everywhere has done over 70 events over at least 6 years. Their agents or actors create spontaneous events in public places. Each time the event is video taped. The videos are fun to watch. The events are planned and the actors know what to do. However, their audience is the people around them. They do not choose to be the audience, so often they are not sure what is going on.

In September, Improv Everywhere did an event in Toronto. Participants met at Riverdale Farm with their MP3 Players. Using their headphones, the people followed instructions. Earlier Improv Everywhere organized another event in Toronto where people rode the TTC subway without their pants. I saw it in the newspaper about a year ago. The participants looked like everyday commuters. Some were reading, others were talking quietly, but all had no pants or skirts. It made me laugh as I was riding the subway when I saw the photograph.

The most popular video was done at Grand Central Station, New York City. The News station, ABC's Nightline showed this video to their television viewers. Another popular video is the food court video which takes place in a mall in Los Angeles, California.

I have downloaded three Improv Everywhere videos for you to view. Look at the three videos. Which one is your favourite? Why? Write your answer in the comment section. You may also wish to comment on other people's answers.

The video of Frozen Grand Central is my favorite because it is so vivid just like the time stops. It is not easy for anyone to freeze for a long time. The cast made it like something was really frozen and the general republic had no idea of what would happen next. The most funny part is the security was about to dial 911. This video made a lot of fun.--------Mary

I liked this video very much. People were acting like professional actors. I believe it takes some patience and self-control to "freeze" and not to move for 5 minutes. It was funny when some people touched agents trying to figure it out what was going on. I guess it's also hard not to react to other people gestures and stay still.

My favorite video is Frozen Grand Central because I like the people who liked been frozen. They had various postures which made me laughed. I think this is interesting and hard to do. If I were one of them, I might move. They did not move, but others moved. This is the most funny part. That is why I like this video.

I enjoy watching the frozen at the grand central station in New York City. These video gave me a wonderfull sense of the surrounding among other people. When the actors and the actresses they stop moving at the exact same moment. I saw different reaction in their faces and I heard some comments from the audience. It was funny and while I'm watching I was laughing out loud. This video is similar to the movie that I watch before The Clock Stoper. To all participants well done.....

My favourite the video of ImprovEverywhere is The MP3 Experiment Toronto. The event was done in Toronto. Participants with their MP3 player met each other and followed instructions by using their headphones at Riverdale Park East.
At first, each and every one not only hugged another who wore the different color shirt, but also gave their hugs to the animals and trees. And then they gathered together; they tooke on their umbrellas and opened them above their heads. After they hummed together and created the enemy, they were divided into two teams. One team is with red and yellow shirt, and the other team is with blue and yellow shirt. Finally, they charged and fell in the battle. The video came to the end in cheer.
There was a lot of fun and laughing through the entire event. By doing thid event, people realized that the foundation of any relatiuons, whether among human, between human and aniaml, or between human and environment, is mutual respect. Living in peace and working contently is so important to us. Also, it was more than possible that participants would be friends. That's why this vido is my favorite.

In my opinion Frozen Grand central video tape is very interesting. It would be wonderful if we could stop our life even for few minutes, and look back to what we have done in the past then see what will be next, but it is impossible to stop our life even for a second. We can only see this in the movies.

This three movies show people’s creativities and ability to work in group.
The Frozen Grand Central is my favourite movie. This short film illustrate non-conformed behaviour, which is different from the standard formal rules. The actors didn’t moved in a very busy place, each member are treated alike and all members did the same thing together. The purpose was to check the reaction of other
people in the unusual situation.
In my opinion there is an extraordinary and a creative idea that demonstrate the human’s need in socialization and how important this factor is

My favorite video is Ffozen Grand Central. I wondered that these people could keep 5 minutes without doing anything. It felt like the time stops. People who were stopping there looked like real sculptures. The frozen people were all strange to the passerbies who were watching them. The funnist part was when those frozen people suddenly moved. The audiences and me burst out laughing. I like the video most.

I have to choose this video-MP3 experiment Toronto because that was very funny.I was surprised that many people who were very exciting.Eventhough they came from different places and wore different colour T-shirts. Doesn’t matter they were men, women, old young or kids.On the other hand, they were playing same size MP3,following the instructions, did the same thing at the same time. That was amazing! There was a wonderful picture which were many people, animals with grass, trees and blue sky mixed together. People didn't worry anything. I really like and want to enjoy it.

The videos of "Improv Everywhere" are all very good. I like the Frozen Grand Central very much. It was perfectly executed and with 207 actors all freezing at the same point was a difficult one. Everyone was surprised by what had happened. It is one way of creating public awareness.

My favorite video is the food court musical. It is fun to watch the musical that was playing right next to the audience. I felt the same as the audience. When the girl started to sing ‘Give Me A Napkin’, the audience and I were stunned. When the security guy walked up to the actors, we were worried, and then we laughed after we found out the security guy was also an actor. Still now a mystery remains that the guy who said ‘here is a napkin’ and gave them a napkin at the climax of the musical was an audience or an undercover agent. He showed up in the very good timing. If that musical happened next to me, I would feel happy in the rest of that day and remember that forever.
Actually I have seen this video before, and I have another favorite video. Have you seen ‘The High Five Escalator’? That is fun, too.

The Frozen Grand Central is my favourite video. It is very interesting and funny. It is funny to see the commuters reaction when the actors all froze at the same time. The actors are very good, it is very difficult to keep a position for 5 minutes. Also, the couple who were holding hands did a really good job. Especially when they start to move from the position, it is very smooth. When all the actors froze, it seems like everything is frozen, even time. Everyone have nothing to worry about.
